October is Filipino History Month Know History, Know Self…No History, No Self The 3 stars symbolize the 3 main geographic areas of the country Luzon, Visayas & Mindinao. The 8 rays in the sun symbolize the 8 provinces that initially took part in the revolution against Spain to gain Independence Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac. The White stands for equality, blue for peace and red for patriotism. It is one of the only National flags that change in times of war.  During times of war the red is on top of the blue.  During times of peace the blue is on top.
